2011 Outstanding Senior WGSS Award

Marla Sutherland

Marla's immediate and unwavering enthusiasm and engagement in her introductory class of Women's Studies set the stage for the outstanding service and scholarship that have distinguished her. Building on her volunteer and intern work in the community, especially as an escort at Fem Care, she greatly enriched UNC Asheville's undergraduate research with her essay titled, "Tuning into the Public Perceptions Concerning Abortion". She presented it at the ACA-UNCA Undergraduate Research Symposium, Sept 2010, and it was published in the Proceedings ACA-UNCA Undergraduate Research Symposium.
