Recent Outstanding Senior WGSS Award

Kaley Fry

During Kaley's three years at UNC Asheville, she restarted the Feminist Collective Student Organization, interned with the Queer Studies Conference, served as Co-President of HOLA (Herman@s Orgull@s en las Americas), served on the Habitat for Humanity Women Build Leadership Team and completed a service-learning project for Chldren First/CIS Family Resource Center at Emma. She has worked closely with the WGSS Program Director organizing many events including the annual F-Word Film Festival, served as panelist with faculty, students and such luminaries as Poet Laurate Natasha Tretheway, Mayor Terry Bellamy, and WLOS newscaster Darcel Grimes. Kaley has also organized other WGSS majors to attend and twice presented academic/political work at SEWSA (Southeastern Womens Studies Association). Kaley's unwavering energy, intellect, community building and activism has been nothing less than inspiring.
